You Know the Rights of a Child, So You Can Help in Its Development and Socialization

Training for 30 specialists of correctional and developmental education and rehabilitation centers "Formation of socially significant competencies and familiarization with the rights of children with special needs was held on January 17, 2023 on the basis of the state educational institution "Mogilev Regional Center for Correctional and Developmental Training and Rehabilitation" as part of the methodological week, and was held by specialists from the charitable public association "World Without Borders" Tatyana Korotkevich and Natalia Milkota. During the meeting, Tatyana shared the history of the organization’s emergence, models for understanding disability, the application of an approach based on children’s rights and the specifics of implementing the principle of inclusion. The difference between the rights of a child and the rights of a child with a disability was discussed, risk factors in the lives of children with disabilities were pointed out . Representatives of the correctional and developmental centers of  Mogilev region ensure the realization of the rights of children to receive education, to be heard, to a family and protection from violence. Together with Natalia Milkota, participants reviewed in details the criteria for realizing the rights of children with disabilities, which were developed as part of the project “Know how to Help”. Practical classes were devoted to understanding the principles of the legal approach, accepting responsibility and understanding the obstacles and difficulties in realizing children's rights in the educational process.
Specialists noted that in order to realize the rights of children, new knowledge and practices are needed in order to improve their work.
Educators, social educators, psychologists actively expressed their opinions, asked questions and participated in practical exercises. For their part, the specialists of  "World without Borders" did their best so that in the future the pride and joy for the new achievements for the results of the children studying in Educational Correctional Centers would be more for the educators.
